But at least once a year, the people of West Chester get to do just that. It’s time again for the Annual West Chester Chili Cook-Off. Yes, on this Sunday October 14th, good times are scheduled to be had by all!

Rain or shine, some of the best chili makers in all of West Chester will step up to the plate and prepare you some of the best eatin’ and entertainment you’ve ever had. Try your favorites or try them all, then weigh in by voting for the ones you like best. With more than 70 chili teams vying for the People’s Choice Award, there is no way you can be disappointed. Thousands of hungry chili lovers will arrive from all over the community for this festive event. If you think you’ve got what it takes to take the prize, join in the competition and put your recipe to the test. You’ll be in good company with many other well-known chili makers. Maybe you’ve heard of some of their recipes; the Philly Special, Back in Time Chili, Berger Chili, Chappy’s Chili, Red Kettle Chili, and a ton more.
It’s a time when family and friends can all come together in support of some very good causes. No one will be left out. Young one’s can get their thrills in the Kid Zone where they can play games and engage in all sorts of fun and exciting activities. Adults can be in their element at some of the local bars and top off their chili tasting with a good brew from the Victor Brewing Company. Artisan vendors will have a wide array of local crafts and arts to show off. Everyone will have a chance to have fun in the family atmosphere that will run from 10:30 in the morning until 3:30 in the afternoon.
Whether you are a die-hard chili lover or just like to eat all around good food, you won’t lack for anything. Now is your chance to be a part of a community that loves to play together and stay connected to the public in a way where everyone can benefit.
This year will be the 16th anniversary of the event, and just like all the other years in the past, it will be one to remember! As a matter of fact, they plan on turning up the heat even more as the Rotary Club plans to beat all the previous years by raising more money to support the community’s most worthy causes. Last year, the Chili Cook-Off received more than $30,000 in donations to support charitable organizations like the West Chester Area Senior Center, Volunteer English Program in Chester County, the Interfaith Housing Assistance Corp., the Home of the Sparrow, the Domestic Violence Center, Chester County Women’s Services, and many more. This year promises to do even better, so if you’re looking for a way to have an exciting time that weekend and end the day feeling really good about yourself, then make sure you put the West Chester Annual Chili Cookoff on the calendar.
