Just because the temperature continues to drop here in West Chester, doesn’t mean the town is even close to slowing down. When sitting at home and planning out your pumpkin picking next month, add any of the following events to your calendar, since all should offer a great outing. Besides the events listed below, keep in mind we have an Open House at 124 Marketplace on Saturdays and Sundays, and would love to have you stop by – and with our central location, you’ll easily be able to get from here to most of these events by walking.

October 2 – Gallery Walk

With almost 30 participants, the city’s Business Improvement District has put together an evening of special exhibitions and gallery showings throughout downtown. Practically everyone is in on the event, including some of our banks, restaurants, shops and, of course, gallery locations. For more information, head to the Gallery Walk info page.

October 3 – Chester County Day

This year’s Chester County Day house tour marks the 75th gala year for the event. The annual tour also stands as the oldest of its kind in the country and is a day of pride and tradition here in West Chester. Come see unique homes, creative gardens and some of the town’s most interesting landmarks.

October 10 – Melton Center Gala

The 2015 Melton Center Gala’s theme is “Honoring Our Past and Embracing Our Future.” Guests will be able to participate in an auction while taking in wonderful food, drinks, music and conversation. For more information and to buy tickets to the gala, visit www.meltoncenter.org.

October 10-18 – Founders Exhibition

Technically kicking off with the Founders Exhibition Preview Reception on the 9th (with tickets priced at $125 each), the Founders Exhibition will focus on a series of works by N.C. Wyeth and will include sketch sessions, lectures and viewings. Visit the Chester County Art Association’s website  for more information or to purchase exhibition tickets (priced between $15 and $20).

October 11 – West Chester Chili Cook-Off

Come down and join the fun of the West Chester Chili Cook-Off. Have a couple (or quite a few taste tests) and vote for your favorite to help the town find the best chili in the area. Want to be a contender yourself? You can submit your best recipe and vet for the prize yourself.

October 13 – Story Slam at Bar & Restaurant

Story Slam is an incredibly unique open-mic night, story slam takes the conventions started by normal open mics and replaces stand-up comedy and music with people telling original stories that fit that month’s theme. October’s theme will be “Blood and Guts,” so be prepared to hear (or share) some gory story.

October 23-25 – Carmina Burana presented by Brandywine Ballet

Carl Orff’s inspired Carmina Burana comes to West Chester this month and will be presented by the Brandywine Ballet. You can buy tickets for the show online or call Brandywine Ballet at (610) 696-2711 for more information.

October 28 – Halloween Parade

Head to downtown West Chester the Wednesday before Halloween for a safe and fun place to bring the family. See marching bands, cheerleading performances, costumes and more. It’s a great opportunity to bust out the face paint for a trial run of your own costume as well.

And remember, if you want to get in on all the action and live in a fabulous apartment complex in West Chester, PA (within walking distance to these festivities plus so much more) contact our leasing office at (610) 696-5687, schedule an appointment to check out the facilities or apply online today.
