One thing that makes 124 Marketplace such a great place to live is its close proximity to so many distinctive and delicious restaurants. Whether your taste is for some fresh seafood or just a pint of refreshing craft beer, our West Chester apartment complex is right in the middle of tremendous options. While we’re not affiliated with any of these places, their Yelp reviews and word from our residents speak highly enough that we thought we would share a list.

Limoncello

Located across the street from the complex (literally a two-minute’ walk away), Limoncello is a family-run Italian restaurant with an inviting, almost-romantic ambiance. On warm summer nights, enjoy your dinner al fresco and when the weather gets cold warm up inside with a glass of limoncello, what else? (The restaurant also has a full bar, and happy is every weekday from 4:30 to 6:30pm.) Their food is authentic – the pasta is homemade! The Mingrino family, who run the eatery, say they want their guests to feel like they’re a part of something special. And after a meal here, you’ll definitely leave feeling that way.

Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant

Since opening their first location in Delaware, Iron Hill has expanded to, thankfully, a few other locations, including one in West Chester. With more than a dozen beers on tap, including their own brews, you won’t feel guilty knocking a few back since you’ll be able to walk home at the end of the night. With a menu of Voodoo Shrimp, Blue Crab Quesadillas, Cheesesteak Egg Rolls and P.E.I. Mussels (those are just a few of the appetizers, by the way), it’s no wonder their food gets rave reviews. They also have a take-out special that includes pizza and a growler for nights you don’t want to go out but still want good food and good beer.

Barnaby’s

Along the same note of good food and great beer, Barnaby’s is a relaxed sports bar located on High Street. You can grab a no-fuss burger or sandwich, or opt for entrees like grilled salmon or chicken fajitas. Barnaby’s also offers an impressive list of craft beer and hand-shaken craft cocktails. While it’s still warm out, enjoy dinner out on their patio or catch a game inside. And make sure to check their site or Facebook page for daily specials.

La Rancherita

For a cheap, quick bite try La Rancherita, located a couple blocks away on Gay Street. The restaurant dishes out authentic Mexican food like enchiladas, gorditas, fried fish, tortas and of course, rice and beans. Once you’re seated, dive into the fresh chips (they’re usually still hot when they’re placed on the table) and choices of salsa (ranging from mild to need-some-water-hot). Prices are reasonable, especially for the generous portions. The colorful and welcoming setting will make you feel at home, and it’ll probably become one of your usual spots in no time.

Roots Café

In regards to the farm-to-table movement, Roots Café excels. Using only locally-sourced, organic and sustainable ingredients, their rotating menu impresses both vegetarians and carnivores. All their offerings are made from scratch (even their sauces!) so you can guess, the food is excellent. The place is only open for dinner Thursday, Friday and Saturday though, so make sure you plan your appetite accordingly.
