Celebrate Summer with These West Chester Events and Activities
It’s that time of the year again. Summer is gearing up in West Chester, which means it’s time to get outside and enjoy some of the community’s many exciting activities. From live music to free movies in the park, everyone can find something to do in Downtown West Chester this season. Discover all the wonderful things happening in your neighborhood during June, July and August.
Turks Head Music Festival
When: Sunday, July 15th, 2018
12:00 to 8:00 PM
Where: Everhart Park
This joyous musical celebration features 11 of some of the hottest regional bands, including jazz and folk musicians. All of Everhart Park will be full of local artisan booths, delicious food tents, and some fun outdoor activities. Pull up a chair and spend the day listening to some great tunes with your friends and neighbors. Check out their website for more information.
Benchmark Twilight Cycling Classic
When: Saturday, August 11th
Starting at 3:00 PM
Where: Downtown – Right outside of 124 Market Place’s apartment complexes in West Chester PA!
There’s something for everyone to enjoy at the Benchmark Twilight Cycling Classic. From professional cyclists to the wild amateur race, you can find a competition for everyone on your guest list. You can even sign up your kids for the West Chester Dental Arts Kids’ Race. The entire downtown comes out for this annual event, so be sure to get there early. The streets are lined with refreshments and swag to help everyone get in the mood for the big race.
Free Movie Night
When: June 28th and Aug 9th
Starting at Dusk
Where: Charles A. Melton Center
Every summer, the West Chester community gets together to put on free movies for the community. Anyone can simply pull up a chair and watch one of the biggest Hollywood movies on the silver screen under the stars. With so many locals and families turning out for the event, the area fills up with delicious food tents. The films will be announced later this summer and there’s no ticket required.
Music at Marshall: The Marshall Square Park Picnic Concerts
When: Third Thursday of June, July and August, Starting on June 21st
Starting at 6:30PM
Where: Marshall Square Park
You can catch a live musical performance every Thursday evening in Marshall Square Park. The band usually camps out in the gazebo as the surrounding area fills up with curious onlookers and die-hard West Chester regional music fans. The first performance will be the Vince Brown Band, known for their smooth guitar and inventive lyrics. Grab some food and hear some amazingly talented musicians bring the park to life.
Bravo Theater Company Presents: Into the Woods
When: August 9th to 12th
Where: Madeline Wing Alder Theater
As a not-for-profit theater, the Bravo Theater is delighted to present their rendition of Into the Woods, the smash musical from Steven Sondheim about all your favorite fairytale characters learning valuable life lessons. See some of your town’s talent in action as they tell the surprising story of Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Jack and the Beanstalk.
